Staff Sgt. Regev Amar z'l - Featuring Rabbi Akiva Males - Rabbi, Young Israel of Memphis

"Always seek only the good."

Regev, son of Gilanit Gillian and David Nissim, brother to Roni and Shaked, served as a combat soldier in the 101st Battalion, Paratroopers Brigade. He was a brilliant child with boundless energy. He was known for his positive outlook and constant seeking out the good. He always put his friends and the mission before himself. On October 7th, he was called up with his squad to defend the nation. He fell in battle after charging forward, continuing to fight bravely and calmly even after being mortally wounded. He left a legacy of positivity and faith in the good in people. He was 21 years old when he fell.

This heartfelt tribute honors Staff Sergeant Regev Amar, who bravely fell defending Kibbutz Kissufim on October 7, 2023. Rabbi Akiva Males reflects on Regev's selflessness, exemplified by his final wish to protect his comrades. Drawing inspiration from great Jewish figures like Abraham and Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berditchev, Rabbi Males emphasizes the enduring value of seeing the good in others.
