Staff Sgt. Ido Harush z'l - Featuring Rick Magder, Filmmaker, Author, Educator

"The day is long and life is short. Make the most of it, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey. I truly love you all..."

Ido, son of Shalhevet and Yaniv, brother to Rotem and Adia Hadasa, grew up in Mitzpe Ramon, raised to love the land and the people. A graduate of the “Minsharim Kalu” pre-army academy, he served as a tank commander in the 77th Battalion, 7th Armored Brigade. On October 7th, when the alarms sounded, he got his soldiers into shelter and rushed to help a fellow soldier standing guard alone at the gate. He went into battle in shorts and sandals with just his personal weapon and one magazine, fighting exposed against many terrorists, and fell in heroic combat. He was 21 years old.

In this heartfelt tribute, Staff Sergeant Ido Harush’s message encourages us to embrace each day with purpose and cherish our connections. His brave actions on October 7th, defending his country at the cost of his life, inspire us to live meaningfully and joyfully. As Rosh Hashanah approaches, his words remind us to focus on what truly matters and to find joy throughout life’s journey.
