Sgt. Osher (Simha) Barzilay z'l - "Always smiling."

Osher, daughter of Tiki and Lior, and sister to Sapir, Eden, Yarin, Yarden, and Chen, served as an Operations Sergeant at the Nahal Oz outpost in the Border Defense Corps. On October 7th, she worked until the final moments to alert forces and call for help, doing everything she could to save lives. She volunteered with Magen David Adom, studied neuroscience at the Weizmann Institute, and dreamed of becoming a brain surgeon. She was known for the light she radiated and the joy she brought wherever she went. Her smile is present in every photo she took. She was 19 years old when she fell.

In this heartfelt video tribute by Rebbetzin Dr. Adina Shmidman, we honor Sergeant Osher Simcha Barzilay, a talented 19-year-old who embodied joy and purpose. As a gifted musician, dedicated student, and volunteer medic, she inspired those around her, even in her final moments. Her light continues to shine, reminding us to carry forward her legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering positivity by spreading joy and compassion in our own lives.

Osher was clearly a beautiful young woman - everything about her, living so joyfully, meaningfully, filled with talent and love of learning, and love of others. She truly embodied her name(s) and, in her 19 years, lived a very full life, bringing light to so many people. זכרונה לברכה
