Capt. Nitay Amar z'l - Featuring Rabbi Dovid Refson - Dean & Founder, Neve Yerushalayim

"Work quietly - success will make the noise."

Nitay, son of Revital and Michael Shalom, brother to Yahel, Matar, Maayan, and Alma, grew up in Kibbutz Alumim and served as assistant engineering officer in the Southern Brigade, Gaza Division. In his journal, he wrote: “On my sticker it will say: Work quietly – success will make the noise.” On October 7th, he was at home; although he didn’t receive a draft order, he told his parents quietly, “They need me,” and immediately drove to his base. At the Tel Gama Junction, on his way, he encountered terrorists, fought bravely, and fell in battle. He was 22 years old.

In this insightful message, Rabbi Dovid Refson explores the profound Jewish perspective on action and success, emphasizing the importance of performing mitzvot quietly and without the need for public recognition. He reflects on the teaching that true merit lies in deeds done in silence, revealing a deep connection between our hidden actions and the spiritual rewards reserved for the World to Come.

Nitay's פתגם reflects a beautiful, natural, modesty, as well as a commitment to do the work required, and, if not required, what he expected of himself. I wish his family and loved ones comfort in their memories. זכרונו לברכה
